Synopsis
The Avengers gather outside the Solomon Institute for the Criminally Insane, preparing to discover whether the missing Wasp is inside. Yellowjacket and the new Ant-Man use their shrinking abilities to enter the building stealthily and discover that, far from being a sanatorium, the place is a training academy for criminal henchmen. They discover a sedated Wasp in a lab and attack the guards with the help of a swarm of ants. The freed Wasp relates how she entered the Institute while miniaturized and tried to contact the restrained Selbe when she was gassed and captured. The Institutes director, Dr. Solomon appears and his guards get the drop on the heroes; to Jan’s surprise he is an older version of Selbe! Solomon explains that he has a bad heart and Selbe (German for "self") is a clone made of him to serve as an organ donor. With the aid of an influx of ants, the heroes overcome the guards and escape to search for Selbe. Outside, however the other Avengers witness a high-tech aircraft land on the roof of the building. In the Institute’s prison, Wasp knocks out the guard with a piercing whistle in his ear and enters Selbe’s cell. A voice behind her announces the arrival of the real mastermind: the skull-masked Taskmaster, who is holding the unconscious Yellowjacket and Ant-Man by the scruffs of their necks.
