Late one night, a homeless man is asked by Thor Girl where she might find Thor; she lifts him over her head but he must admit he doesn’t know….

Thor battles a huge robot called Nullitron that is too strong and too fast for him. The robot hurls a ball of light that immobilizes then destroys Mjolnir. Nullitor then pounds Thor, finally knocking his head clean off. As the audience cheers, a mysterious voice assures his companion that the robot can easily do the same to the real Thor….

At Jake Olson’s Manhattan apartment, Jake and Beta Ray Bill are concerned about Jake’s mother, who fainted at the sight of Bill. When she revives, Jake makes the introductions, explaining that Bill is a good guy. Privately, Jake, who is really Thor, confesses discomfort at the presence of the real Jake’s mother; Bill suggests he introduce her to Odin and flies off, chuckling….

In Asgard, Sif meditates over Odin’s sleeping form, knowing he is needed. Balder arrives and reminds Sif that she did lead Asgard to victory over Malekith, which she appreciates….

The giant robot Nullitor approaches the same homeless man, demanding to know where Thor is. But this time when the man doesn’t know, the monster picks him up and electrocutes him. Then it decides to force Thor to come to it….

Jake and Christine leave a restaurant after saving a choking patron and Christine gets up close and romantic, intending to kiss him when a call for help to the Avengers goes out. Nullitor arrives, wreaking havoc and shouting for Thor. Jake sends Christine to evacuate the restaurant while he transforms into Thor to confront the villain. The robot hurls the ball of light, creating a field that immobilizes Mjolnir, forcing its energy back into Thor’s body. Suddenly, another hammer zips through the air, shattering the energy sphere, and Thor Girl steps forward, bashing Nullitor. Thor recognizes her as Tarene and they debate her choice of hero name while bashing the robot together. Thor fields questions from onlookers about the newcomer….

Meanwhile, we meet the duo who had sent the robot to defeat Thor: Zarkko the Tomorrow Man and a new Gladiator. Thor is about to inflict tragedy on their world so to stop it, Gladiator will travel into the past to kill the God of Thunder….

Thor (1998 series) #33 Review by (November 5, 2025)

Review: And now we meet Thor Girl, for those who envied DC for having a Supergirl and a Batgirl, and the resemblance is purely intentional. She's cute and charming while being formidable. Well, that’s all we ask for in a teen girl superhero, isn’t it? We’ll see a lot more of her in the near future. Meanwhile, Thor is fighting a giant robot, emissary of two futuristic baddies revealed on the last page, Zarrko, a recurring pain in Thor’s hammer, and a Gladiator from some alternate dimension, not the regular Kree Superman. The robot, who doesn’t even have a consistent name, is no match for the kid, much less the God of Thunder so things are kicked up a notch in the next issue. And we’ll find why sooner or later too. And something goofy seems to be happening with Jake and Christine but no one cares.

Comments: Part one of three parts. The title is a homage to the first appearance of DC’s Batgirl in DETECTIVE COMICS #359. Tarene previously appeared in issues #24-25; this is her first appearance as Thor Girl. Sole appearance of Nullitron/Nullitor (called Nullitron for his first two pages then Nullitor afterwards and in Marvel Database). First appearance of Gladiator Kallark of Earth-3515Letters by Richard Starkings, Comicraft, and Wes Abbott.
