In the Jean Grey School the 3 Stepford Cuckoos are using Cerebra to monitor mutants worldwide. They're forbidden to read any minds but can act as a mental link between teams. And it's apparently the 1st time they've known that 1 of the students is a mutant alien Brood (named Broo).

Meanwhile Headmistress Kitty Pryde has called in teacher Paige Guthrie (Husk) to ask about the fight in her class earlier today, but she doesn't seem to remember it. We see that Glob Herman tried to attack Kid Omega but KO mentally made him beat himself up while Husk obliviously tried to carry on with the lesson. Broo suggested to Idie Okonkwo that they should intervene but Oya just uncharacteristically laughed which got everybody's attention. And Glob used the opportunity to shoot his fist sideways to hit Quentin Quire in the head (everyone's seen Hulk hitting Thor in the Avengers movie). Now Kitty comments on Paige's recent erratic behaviour and suggest she has some time off. Husk assumes this means she'll be fired but takes control by quitting while tearing her current skin off to reveal red hot flesh underneath. She stalks out saying that only 1 with any sense is the janitor (Toad who she's been very friendly with recently).

Ms Pryde contacts the Cuckoos and learns that the Utopia battle is still raging. But she tells them her plan to alleviate tension in the school with a telepathically broadcast announcement for the 1st ever school dance this evening.

Broo spots Idie sneaking out of school and accompanies her as she bribes the Krakoa grounds with a bag of fertiliser. She says she's going to the church that she's visited every day for weeks. She promises to be back for the dance and Broo gets the idea she's asking him on a date.

In Utopia Charles Xavier remembers how it all began with *his* school for mutants, as he tries to mentally talk Scott Summers down. But Cyclops beats both X-Men and Avengers, and Prof X realises it's all up to him.

Idie does get back in time to get dressed up for the dance. Deathlok complains to Pryde that what the students are doing isn't dancing. Kree warrior Warbird doesn't understand dancing without bloodshed, and agrees to see alien Doop in her room in 5 minutes. Broo arrives with flowers and he's studied up on the Jitterbug, but he sees Idie already dancing closely with Quentin and he walks away dejected.

As Xavier mentally battles Cyclops he also mentally asks Logan to keep the school open because those kids will someday save the world. And the Cuckoos sense him die.

Broo runs to Idie's church and meets Pastor Hail. They talk of sins and Broo asks if the Pastor offers her counselling, but the Pastor only offers judgement and punishment. So the Broodling slices the robot Pastor's head off. Glob Herman has also left the dance to meet 2 teens who want to know if he's made any progress recruiting Quentin Quire to their team. Broo is also approached by a teen he recognises as Kade Kilgore, Black King of the current Hellfire Club, who introduces his friend Max who built the robot. He says they have plans for Idie.

As Hope Summers defeats Cyclops and takes the Phoenix power, Kilgore shoots Broo and the Cuckoos detect new mutants springing up all over the world.

Morry Hollowell and Rachelle Rosenberg shared the colouring duties.

This issue shows what was happening at the Jean Grey School during the final battle of the Avengers Vs X-Men event on AVX#12.

The young Hellfire Club have been active since the X-Men: Schism mini-series and then moved over into this series. #16 showed what they were doing during the reign of the Phoenix 5, and now they're about to take centre-stage in this series luring away students to their own Hellfire Academy.
