World War Hulk #4 Review by (February 15, 2010)
Another fantastically drawn fight

World War Hulk #4 Review by (February 15, 2010)
The 3 civilians who complain about the activities of the Illuminati are:- A woman who was nearly crushed by the building during the Strange/Hulk fight condemns Dr Strange for consorting with demons. A woman whose husband was killed by an Inhuman at the start of Silent War obviously has it in for Black Bolt. The 3rd guy is Tom Foster, nephew of Goliath, who justly condemns Mr Fantastic and Iron Man for creating the Thor clone that killed him in Civil War. During the Richards/Stark battle Tony Stark uses his Extremis(?) enhancement to take over some Death's Head robots and get them to fire on Reed. The President personally goes to see Sentry to persuade him to intervene, but Bob Reynolds still doesn't move until he sees that Hulk is really going to kill the Illuminati. We also see a flashback to #1 where we find out why Sentry hasn't acted so far - he's worried about the level of power he'll have to unleash to stop Hulk.

Tie-ins:- WWH: FRONT LINE #4/1-5/1(p1-10) Sally Floyd gets drunk and meets J Jonah Jameson who offers to buy Front Line. Ben Urich sneaks into the arena to watch the Illuminati forced to fight each other. He leaves in disgust before Sentry arrives. Sally gets rescued from a mugger/rapist by Moon Knight. She sees Ben get crushed in a mob riot. INCREDIBLE HULK #111(p1-11.3) The Renegades watch Hulk defeat the Zom-powered Dr Strange. Later DrS's servant Wong tells them that Zom is now free and has occupied Iron Man's abandoned Hulkbuster armour. They start fighting it.

Synopsis / Summary / Plot

World War Hulk #4 Synopsis by Julio Molina-Muscara
In Madison Square Garden, Doctor Strange (who channeled the powers of an extra dimensional demon named Zom), easily defeats Hiroim destroying his arm from the elbow down.

The Hulk leaps to the rescue but he is also easily dispatched by the super powered Strange to the middle of New York. Strange shots mystic beams right through the Hulk's back and midsection; seems that Old Greenskin won't be able to stop his magician "friend". But in the midst of the battle, one building collapses threatening the lives of the Hulk supporters and the NY Firefighters; the Hulk saves them. Strange realizes that he's lost control of his new awesome power as the Hulk charges against him. Strange tries to defend himself, but the Hulk just pounds him unconscious. Miek puts an obedience disk on Doctor Strange's chest.

Rick Jones tries reasoning with the Hulk, saying "You are Banner". But the Hulk responds "Banner is me".

The Hulk goes back to Madison Square Garden where the gladiator fights are to begin. But first, a group of Hulk supporters speak up about how Black Bolt, Reed Richards, Tony Stark or Doctor Strange made them suffer, approving of the Hulk's avenging plan.

So the four Illuminati who shot the Hulk into space are to experience the same atrocities that the Hulk suffered when he arrived to Sakaar. The Hulk frees a big and deadly Sakaar monster upon them. Weakened, the four "heroes" almost succumb to the beast but finally defeat it. Next, Hulk provides them with weapons and orders them to kill each other. Since they cannot resist their obedience disks, Blackbolt goes after Doctor Strange, and Reed Richards against Tony Stark. Strange casts spells that engulf him and Blackbolt in fire; it is unclear who beats who.

But Richards has Stark finally on the ground, ready to provide the mortal blow. The audience shouts "Kill Him!" as Richards tries to resist; the Hulk listens to his supporters and places his thumb down.

Meanwhile, the Sentry sees all of that in national television and decides to take part in the conflict saying "It's time to play God".
