Story Name:

...And Man-Thing Makes Three!

Synopsis

Incredible Hulk #197 Synopsis by Julio Molina-Muscara
Image from Incredible Hulk #197

Caimans and an anaconda at a swamp in Florida attack Hulk. After getting rid of them, he finds a bed and rests. Waking up as Bruce Banner, he senses that someone is spying him. Bruce tackles the spy; he seems like a nice person. When Bruce realizes where he is, a group of pirates attacks them (!). Tension turns Bruce into the Hulk. The bandits are nothing for the green giant, but an old-looking man, the Collector, shows up and turns the “spy” guy into a monster referred to as the Glob.

The Glob joins the Man-Thing to stop the Hulk. Jade Jaws finds it hard to defeat his enemies, made of clay and slime. They absorb each of the Hulk blows, while Hulk feels their attacks. Eventually, his opponents suffocate the Hulk, who passes out.

Finally, the Collector orders his pirates to lift the green monster and follow him into the swamp.

Meanwhile, Betty Ross, desperate and confused by Glenn Talbot state, finds comfort in the arms of Doc Samson (!). Clay Quartermain watches them, unseen.
