In his duel with Titanium Man, Iron Man is taken unaware by land mines planted by the Russians around the arena. He recovers quickly but his left boot jet is damaged, leaving him unable to dodge his enemy’s radar rings which bind him fast. The hero exerts all his strength and forces the rings off him but he must stall long enough to recharge….
Meanwhile, Tony Stark’s bitter ex-girlfriend Countess Stephanie De La Spiroza goes to his hotel room looking for him but the industrialist isn’t there. She decides to steal the transistor device from the lab table to force him to come to her, unaware that this device is the crucial booster for Iron Man’s chestplate….
Back at the battleground, Iron Man is tricked into coming too close to Titanium Man and is seized by the humongous villain who bounces the hero off of some rocks. Fortunately, the armor protects Tony from injury. His chest hurting, he reaches for the back-up device, then realizes that he must have left it in the lab (idiot). Iron Man stalls until the break period; Titanium Man does too, encouraging Tony. When the break is called, he rushes back to the hotel room and discovers the device missing, Stephanie’s handkerchief left in its place as a hint. He quickly snatches up a replacement boot and heads back to the arena, stopping to explain the situation to Happy Hogan before he must rejoin the battle. Happy intercepts Stephanie (by running her car off the road) and recovers the device. Returning to the arena, he ignores Pepper’s concerned warning and rushes out on the battlefield to deliver the booster to Iron man. While the hero is distracted, Titanium Man unleashes his molecular scrambler; Iron Man is unaffected but Happy is caught in the blast. The critically injured sidekick calls Iron Man "Boss" before passing out and the Armored Avenger determines to win this battle for his faithful friend….
