While cleaning around Falsworth Manor,
Spitfire discovers a Gestapo hat much too large for any human head;
Captain America fills her in on its background....
The Invaders were in England when
reports came of Nazi activity in the Swiss Alps. Human Torch and Toro
went to investigate and never returned. Namor, Cap and Bucky
searched for them in a Swiss village and were attacked by a mob of
villagers who mistook them for the monsters they were hunting. They
related tales of grave-robbing, two fiery being in the sky, and a
huge monster on a killing spree and it all pointed toward Castle
Frankenstein. Namor keeps an eye on the vigilantes while Cap and
Bucky head to the castle where they encounter Nazi soldiers—and the
Frankenstein Monster in a Gestapo uniform. On orders from Dr Basil
Frankenstein the Monster clobbers the two heroes and locks them up in
a dungeon where they find Toro, drugged to keep him from flaming on.
Dr F, paralyzed in an accident, explains he is a descendant of the
original Dr Frankenstein and has committed himself to the Nazi cause,
aided by female Japanese surgeon Dr Kitagowa. They plan to transplant
Dr F's brain into Cap's body while pursuing their grand scheme:
creating an army of Axis monsters, for which they need Torch's
android energies. The flashing lights from the castle are seen in the
village so Namor goes to investigate, the mob storms the castle,
Namor crashes in to rescue Torch and Cap who fight the now-larger
Monster. In the battle the Monster is knocked into an electrical
device which shorts out the brain implant that kept him
Frankenstein's slave; with tears in his eyes, the Monster grabs
Frankenstein and Kitagowa and leaps off the castle roof to their
deaths. When the villagers want to burn down the castle, the Torch
tells them that he is also an artificial human being and that the
castle should be kept standing as a memorial to the heroic sacrifice
of the Monster....
