In
Asgard, Odin is confused as to why Thor has joined forces with Galactus but
determines to await further information before taking any action….
Meanwhile,
Thor has agreed that Galactus’ mission against Ego the Living Planet is a just
one and Hercules joins in too. The mad planet attacks Galactus’ ship and it
crashes to the ground; the ship is invaded by weird green creatures but Thor,
Herc, and Firelord easily stave them off and exit the ship, Galactus remaining
behind to work on an attack of his own devising….
Odin
continues to watch and vows to offer Thor no aid since he has requested none.
Sif is still worried that her beloved will die. Odin says that in that case, he
will mourn his son then avenge him by killing Ego. The All-Father then mounts
his steed and rides out over the Rainbow Bridge. Hildegarde worries about Sif,
wondering if she has had a premonition of Thor’s death. Meanwhile, Hildy uses
the Visi-Globe to look in on her sister Krista, recuperating in a New York
hospital….
A
huge purple warrior rises from the ground, Ego personified, to battle the
intruders but Thor calls up mighty winds and lightning to create an earthquake
(egoquake?), forcing the monster back into the ground, leaving a tunnel. The
three heroes descend into an increasingly cold cavern where they encounter the
mind of Ego, a huge floating brain. Demons emerge from the walls to fight them;
Thor leaves the monsters to Hercules and Firelord and hurls Mjolnir at the
brain and there is an explosion….
