Turmoil in the Time Stream!

Synopsis

Thor #243 synopsis by ?
Rating: 3.5 stars

After battling the Servitor, Thor listens to what Zarrko the Tomorrow Man has to say. Zarrko explains how, in the 23rd century, he built the Servitor and traveled in his Time Cube to the 50th century and made himself ruler. Then he learned of the Time Twisters, advanced beings who travel backwards in time in a great spiral which causes them to pass the Earth every thirty centuries. Their passing destroys the world and they have already obliterated the Earth in the 80th century and are heading for Zarrko’s 50th century—after that their next stop will be the 20th, and they may be too powerful to defeat then. Thor and his friends agree to help; they all enter the Time Cube and are whisked into the future….

In Asgard, the Grand Vizier intercedes for Thor, asking Odin to reconsider the banishment of his son; Odin insists he knows exactly what he is doing….

The Time Cube comes to a sudden halt in the time stream; Thor exits to find a Tyrannosaurus Rex emerging from the mists to assault the Cube. Thor defeats the monster with the aid of Mjolnir. They are then beset by Mongol hordes, 20th century military aircraft, and futuristic warriors on sky sleds with advanced weapons. Thor and the Warriors Three fight them, with the Thunder God calling down a storm to send them off into the vortex. The Time Cube then reaches its destination and the heroes exit the Cube to discover that the 50th century is not the paradise Zarrko described but a wretched hell hole deprived of energy by the will of the dictator Zarrko. A group of citizens approach him, begging for repairs to the ener-generators but he has the Servitor (literally) brush them off. Later Thor asks for an explanation and Zarrko candidly reveals that controlling energy is the best means of controlling dissent and rebellion. Suddenly, there is a crackle in the air and a trio of grotesquely tall, thin beings with enlarged craniums materialize: the Time Twisters have arrived….
