Iron Man tosses a live wire from his armor, shorting out the paralysis beam which kept Pepper Potts a captive of Titanium Man. The enraged Iron Man begins furiously pounding at his foe, overwhelming him with the force of his attack. The hero tries to cut into his foe’s armor but even his diamond drill is useless. As the whole world, including the President, watches on television, Iron Man resumes his violent attack causing Titanium Man’s main circuit to overload so that a final blow shatters the enemy’s armor and releases a sonic boom that restores the amnesiac Happy’s memory. Senator Byrd congratulates Iron Man on his victory and reminds him he still wants Tony Stark to testify before his committee. The damaged Titanium Man heads out to sea to rendezvous with a Russian sub but they are under orders to abandon their champion should he lose. The damaged Soviet villain collapses into the sea, while Tony arrives at the scene of battle for Pepper’s greeting—as Happy Hogan wonders what to do with the knowledge that Tony Stark IS Iron Man….

Synopsis

As the Adaptoid, having made itself a perfect duplicate of Captain America, is heading out of Avengers Mansion, a criminal known as the Tumbler crashes through the window and challenges him to battle. Despite being an exact copy of Captain America something is missing, as the Adaptoid is quickly outmatched, with the Tumbler claiming Cap’s shield as a trophy. The gloating baddie tells how he was once a hopeless punk until reading of Cap’s exploits inspired him to train as an acrobat and turn to crime. The fight soon ends with the Tumbler hurling the phony Cap through a wall. Suddenly the real Cap appears, having escaped his bonds, and easily beats his agile challenger. The police take away the luckless Tumbler and Cap and Jarvis carry the immobilized Adaptoid into the lab, where it reverts to its original form, and hatches a new plot to destroy Captain America.
