A+X #8 Review by (August 17, 2021)

Review: Enjoyable pair of tales done with the breezy humor of the lighter sort of Marvel comics with three expert quipsters, Kitty Pryde, Hawkeye, and Deadpool. First story mainly establishes that Kitty is more formidable than she looks, the second is pure wackiness of the type Deadpool specializes in. And the best bit is his Hulk Hands arrow, a parody of Green Arrow’s boxing glove arrow, only even sillier.

Comments: No inker is credited for the first story. Kitty Pryde is a big fan of GAME OF THRONES (Mother of Dragons and all that). Captain Barracuda was introduced in SUB-MARINER (1968) #10-11 and has faced Hulk, the FF, the New Mutants, Moon Knight, and Iron Man.

Synopsis / Summary / Plot

A+X #8 Synopsis by Peter Silvestro

A courier for the Russian Mafia has a rare space rock which he is auctioning off to the highest bidder. Spider-Woman has been dispatched to locate the rock for S.W.O.R.D. and she enlists Kitty Pryde because Lockheed can sniff out the rock. They trace it to a huge room off the New York subway where Crusher Creel, the Absorbing Man, is fighting Hydra and A.I.M. agents for the rock. While Spider-Woman battles the assembled agents, Kitty snaps it up and places it in the middle of a concrete pillar but Creel can smash into it anyway. After a few attempts at keeping it away from him, Kitty lets Creel have the rock and he turns into a glowing figure of space metal. She then sticks her fingers into his brain and disturbs the blood flow, knocking him out. The two women make A.I.M. watch over Creel and Hydra clean up the mess. And Lockheed has fallen in love with Jessica.
