Our story begins with Spider-Man quite literally
running into Medusa on a hovercraft! She says that she was sent here to see if
the Inhumans would be safe in trying to rejoin the human race. Medusa flies
off, seeking the opinion of average people, and Spidey decides to try and pay
Gwen a visit. At that moment, an advertising mogul named Montgomery G. Bliss
spots Medusa out of his window and decides she’d be the perfect new model for
their hairspray! Medusa lands among a crowd below and they immediately start to
run in panic! Medusa saves a young boy from being trampled, which immediately
warms the crowd to her. Bliss’ assistant then approaches Medusa with an offer
to model for their hair company. Though Medusa has no interest in their money,
she decides the gig would prove a great opportunity to study humans.
Peter swings by the Stacy residence and an angry
Gwen Stacy answers the door. Peter finds he still can’t explain what happened when
he supposedly hit her father and she slams the door in his face. Inside, Captain
George Stacy, still recuperating, asks Gwen what the matter was. He still can’t
remember anything that happened while he was under the Brainwasher’s influence,
leaving everyone confused and frustrated. Meanwhile, Medusa is introduced to
Montgomery G. Bliss and she agrees to be his spokesmodel. Elsewhere,
J. Jonah Jameson gets a call at his club about the Medusa sighting, angry that no
photographers were around to get pictures. In the same room, Norman Osborn has
troubles of his own, as vague memories of the Green Goblin continue to plague
him! He angrily brushes off Jameson, who expresses concern for his friend, but
also thinks there might be a story in all this!
Meanwhile, at their shared apartment, Harry Osborn has
his own troubles with his schoolwork. Pete tries talking with him about the
Gwen situation, but can’t find the words. Elsewhere, after hours of modeling
her hair in different styles, Medusa grows tired of the gig and leaves after
destroying the expensive equipment. Bliss tries to think of a way he can still
profit without Medusa and a plan forms when he sees Spider-Man swinging by
outside. Bliss cries out to Spider-Man, who swings in to see the office trashed.
He says that Medusa went on a rampage and implores Spidey to go stop her!
Though Spidey is still a little unsure, he decides that she should be stopped,
in the event that she really is dangerous. After Spidey leaves, Bliss gleefully
orders his whole publicity department to follow Spidey, so they can record the
whole thing, as free advertising for their hairspray!
Spidey quickly finds Medusa and the two get into a
scuffle, while a gleeful Bliss has the whole thing filmed. Medusa pridefully
ignores Spidey’s request for an explanation and the two continue to fight.
Spidey webs up Medusa, who loudly proclaims that she’s seen that the Inhumans
can never again dwell among regular humans, having seen their violence! Spidey
realizes that Bliss was tricking him, and Medusa rides off, having had enough
of humans for a lifetime! Later on, Bliss’ assistant comes in, saying their
plan backfired, and their sales actually dropped, due to Spider-Man telling
everyone that Medusa was dangerous and uncontrollable! A weary Peter then makes
his way home, when he’s confronted by Mary Jane Watson, who heard the news of
his and Gwen’s split. Peter brushes MJ off, and MJ realizes that Pete’s
feelings for Gwen were deeper than she thought, and that he really misses her!
