Cold War Part Three

Synopsis

Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty #12 synopsis by Peter Silvestro
Rating: 3.5 stars

Story continued from CAPTAIN AMERICA: SYMBOL OF TRUTH #12.

In an Alaska blizzard, Captain America (Steve Rogers) and Captain America (Sam Wilson) stand with their allies Sharon Carter and Misty Knight and prepare to enter Dimension Z and stop the bad guys in their lair. Surveillance shows that the alien Phrox have killed the merely human Tithed army. Sharon and Misty head over but Sam stops Steve to ask if he is ready to reenter Dimension Z after his traumatic experiences there. Steve doesn’t answer as he takes off after the women….

At the Outer Circle headquarters, The Money and The Power are being rebuked by their co-conspirators The Machine and The Love (appearing via hologram) over their failures to stop Captain America. Money’s and Power’s quarrel turns angry, leading the women to cut off communication. Then the two decide to put their rivalry aside and work together to stop The New Revolution, Bucky Barnes

…who at this moment is being held at knifepoint by Black Widow, demanding to know what he is doing in the Outer Circle. Bucky turns the tables on her and holds a knife to her throat, asking her to stay to see that he does not turn to supervillainy. She strikes back at him and declines his offer; she reminds him that they control who they become. In a cell nearby, Ian Rogers has heard this and recalls growing up with Steve as his father….

In Alaska, Sam Cap warns Steve Cap not to become so involved in rescuing Ian that he loses sight of the goal. Then the two Caps are attacked by a Phrox general, which is taken down in spectacular fashion by Sharon. The four then pass through the portal to Dimension Z where White Wolf springs his trap and their landing point explodes….

Story continued in CAPTAIN AMERICA: SYMBOL OF TRUTH #13.

Review / Commentaries

Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty #12 Review by (May 17, 2023)

Review: The plot doesn’t advance very far in this chapter of the crossover, starting with the heroes preparing to enter Dimension Z and ending with them entering Dimension Z. In between we look in on the Outer Circle where two of them decide to work together against Bucky; Black Widow threatening Bucky and then leaving; White Wolf setting off a trap. And there’s some talk about Steve Cap’s trauma which isn’t really addressed. We’ll see if anything really happens next time.

Comments: Cold War” Part 3 of 6. Steve Cap spent a decade trapped in Dimension Z in CAPTAIN AMERICA (2012) by Rick Remender. Written by Jackson Lanzing and Collin Kelly.
