Synopsis / Summary / Plot

Captain America #102 Synopsis by Peter Silvestro
Steve Rogers plans to stop the Sleeper armed only with the sonic key which he can't manage to work. Meanwhile the Red Skull has been rescued from the sea by his men and is on his way to the Island of the Exiles, his elite military force. Assassins from the Exiles set a trap for Captain America outside SHIELD HQ and he has a rough time against them until Agent Thirteen comes to his aid. When the Sleeper destroys an industrial complex, Cap and Thirteen head out there in a SHIELD helicopter. They are shot down by a band of Exiles mounted on hover-seats and manage to parachute to safety, with Cap defeating the enemy on the ground. They stand in the path of the approaching Sleeper and Cap attacks it but his efforts are futile as the monster is too powerful. Suddenly the Sleeper slows down and Cap deduces that Thirteen is somehow transmitting her fear to the creature via the sonic key. As she becomes even more alarmed over Cap’s safety, the Sleeper weakens and fades out of existence; at the same moment the crystal key shatters. As Cap and Thirteen take comfort in each other’s arms, the Red Skull discovers Cap’s love, and determines to use this weakness to bring his downfall.
