Synopsis

Captain America #23 synopsis by Peter Silvestro
Rating: 4.5 stars
In Adamsville, Iowa, Captain America, Falcon, and Winter Soldier are in trouble while fighting Selene and her demonic minions. But rescue has come: Sharon Carter in the Iron Patriot armor, with Shuri and Agatha Harkness, emerge from a portal. Toni Ho has added some weaponry to the armor so Sharon feels almost confident in taking on a powerful witch, while Agatha takes the wounded Sam and Bucky, along with the enslaved men of the town, back to the HQ. Sharon blasts Selene into the distance and catches up to her at a farm and smashes her through a barn. She pauses to rescue three farm workers who were trapped in the barn collapse and they flee but Selene absorbs their energy to gain a second wind. Selene traps the armored Sharon in a huge pillar of earth which begins to squeeze. Toni Ho reminds Sharon of the armor’s eye weapons and she blasts her foe. Selene flies off and Sharon follows, easily overtaking her and plunging her into a lake and holding her under until her power is drained. When she returns to the town with her subdued foe, Shuri takes the Blood Marine from Selene and uses it to restore Sharon Carter to her youth….

Captain America #23 Review by (September 16, 2020)

Review: A spectacular issue focusing on Sharon Carter, held together by her narration and meditations on aging while boxing with a holographic image of her younger self, adding some depth of characterization during a terrific fight scene. That fight scene is of course Sharon in the Iron Patriot armor, kicking Selene’s butt, in an epic fashion. And after what seems like an eternity, Sharon is young again; hope she remembers everything she thought about aging in the early parts of the issue.

Comments: Sharon Carter aged while trapped in Dimension Z where time runs more quickly than in the regular world; this all took place in CAPTAIN AMERICA (2012 series), lost in issue #10, discovered alive in #23.
