At Shadow Base B, General Fortean
explains to his science adviser Dr. McGowan how they led Hulk into a
trap: they lured him to Base A and turned on the radiation emitters
to mimic daylight, forcing Hulk to change back into Bruce Banner, and
now Fortean's hit man Bushwacker just has to kill the wounded
scientist. But it won't be that easy: Bushwacker thinks he has Bruce
helpless but Bruce fights back—and fights dirty, escaping while the
baddie is recovering from a shot to the groin. McGowan realizes that
Bruce isn't “Bruce,” Banner's body contains the personality of
Gray Hulk Joe Fixit, a nasty customer. Joe/Bruce breaks through an
aquarium to reach the lab beyond and he hacks a computer to his
advantage. Bushwacker shoots him down but he isn't dead, instead he
explains how, since he couldn't turn to UV emitters off, he could
turn them up—to emit gamma radiation. Joe/Bruce transforms into the
Hulk and suddenly Fortean discovers the entire mountain is gone. So
Fortean orders Subject B into play: Rick Jones' body was used as
scaffolding for a gamma shell recovered from the corpse of Emil
Blonsky to create a new, non-human Abomination....
