Bruce Banner, Rick Jones and Monkey sneak into a nuclear power plant to use its gamma ray projector to try curing Banner. But they're found by a terrorist disguised as a cop called Emil Blonsky who wants to detonate the plant. The projector is turned on accidentally and a gamma dose bathes both Banner and Blonsky, who turns into a large green monster who calls himself the Abomination.

The Hulk and the Abomination fight to a stand still until gamma rays turn the Abomination back into Blonsky, who is locked by the US Army. General Ross has a hard time believing that the Hulk actually helped to avoid a nuclear disaster.
