Original Sin 5.n - Thor and Loki #1 Review by (July 16, 2014)
Review: So Thor has a big sister. And she’s someone known in the Marvel Universe already—but only to those who have read GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY this past few months. Hard to know what to make of this since presumably they are intending to do wild and crazy stuff with Thor—I’m writing this the day after the announcement of a brand new female Thor. So far it looks good and the plot is intriguing even if we don’t know where it’s going. One thing I do know, Angela is not the new female Thor; Marvel has just acquired the character, they are not going to change her completely without a lawsuit pending. So stay tuned and we’ll fill you in on further development as they, er, develop.

Comments: Cameo by the Hulk. Odin and the Queen of Angels (and baby Aldrif) appear in flashback. Angela is the creation of Neil Gaiman and Todd McFarlane introduced in the latter’s series SPAWN for Image Comics; after winning a court case for the rights to the character, Gaiman brought her to Marvel where she appears in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY (2013 series).

Synopsis / Summary / Plot

Original Sin 5.n - Thor and Loki #1 Synopsis by Peter Silvestro

The story opens with a glimpse of a hut in a wood in an inaccessible place. It is called a prison of gods….

When the Orb detonates the Watcher’s eye in Manhattan, Thor gains the knowledge that he has a sister. He flies to Asgardia to confront the All-Mother Freyja about the Tenth Realm and the mysterious sibling. She relates the story of the Tenth Realm and its inhabitants, the Angels. Of a long ago war between the Aesir and the Angels. How the Angel Queen kidnapped Aldrif, the infant daughter of Odin and Freyja and slew her before her parents’ eyes. How Odin in his wrath destroyed the Angels’ warships and tore the Tenth Realm from its roots in Yggdrasil and sealed it away from all sight and memory—but Thor insists his sister is alive….

Later Freyja confronts evil Old Loki who denies having any hand in this revelation….

Thor goes to Broxton where he finds (young) Loki still brooding over the recent events in his own book and recruits him to help uncover the missing realm. They take Thor’s chariot into space and with his magic Loki uncovers the hidden door. They force their way in and discover the Tenth Realm…

Elsewhere, Old Loki is watching and relishing the idea of introducing Thor to his sister—Angela of the Guardians of the Galaxy….
