Story Name:

Whose War is This Anyway?

Synopsis

Quasar #38 synopsis by Peter Silvestro
Rating: 3 stars

Quasar and the Contemplator are in the Dimension of Manifestations where Eternity lies in a coma. The Contemplator decides to remain behind to explore this new dimension while Quasar returns to Earth to join the Expeditionary Force that will investigate what happened to Eternity. He arrives at the Four Freedoms Plaza where a great assembly of mighty heroes is preparing to teleport to another world. Meanwhile, Kayla Ballantine and Holly Steckley are on the distant planet Scadam where the Chief Examiner wants to sample Kayla’s powers; doing so, however, causes him to explode, just as the planet is attacked by the Black Fleet. Attempting to use her power to drive them off, Kayla is apparently destroyed. The Expeditionary Force arrives on the other world where they discover Adam Warlock and the Infinity Watch and, assuming they are the villains, surround them. Quasar tries to stop the coming battle by throwing a force field around the Infinity Watch but, with the Watch unable to convince the Earth heroes they are not enemies, the fight begins anyway. Quasar takes on Warlock but is suddenly distracted by the Contemplator contacting him to warn of the Magus' involvement, and Warlock is able to defeat him.

Character Note: The Expeditionary Force includes Captain America, Thing, Wolverine, Cyclops, Thor (Eric Masterson), Hercules, Hulk, and Professor X.

Infinity Watch is Warlock, Thanos, Drax, Gamora, Moondragon, and Pip the Troll

Review / Commentaries

Quasar #38 Review by (February 15, 2010)
“An Infinity War Crossover:” story is an expanded version of some of the events of INFINITY WAR #3 from Quasar’s point of view. Most of the guest stars have little to do beyond appearing in group/battle scenes. At one point Thanos grabs Hulk and Thing and tries to bang their heads together, and would have if not for Quasar’s intervention. All in all, not one of Hulk’s shining moments. The Chief Examiner and Black Fleet subplot began in QUESTPROBE #1, which also featured the Hulk.
