Synopsis

Incredible Hulk, The (1968 series) #388 synopsis by reviewer Julio MM
Rating: 3 stars

In Los Angeles, Jim Wilson—a longtime ally of the Hulk and a passionate community advocate—runs an AIDS clinic, offering care and hope to those society often overlooks. But when he suspects that one of his patients is being targeted by a violent group, he reaches out to the one person he knows can protect them: the Hulk.

Hulk arrives, bringing Rick Jones along as his trusted companion. Together, they investigate the threat, and Jim’s fears are soon confirmed. A new villain known as Speedfreek, armed with razor-sharp armor and a sadistic streak, storms the clinic with lethal intent. Hulk confronts him in a brutal showdown, shielding the innocent and ultimately defeating Speedfreek before any lives are lost.

Amid the chaos, Jim makes a deeply personal revelation: he has AIDS. The admission is quiet but powerful, underscoring the courage he shows not just in facing villains, but in confronting the stigma and fear surrounding his condition. Hulk and Rick stand by him, offering support not just as heroes, but as friends.

The story becomes more than a battle—it’s a moment of truth, resilience, and solidarity in the face of both physical and societal threats.
