Thor #620 Review by (December 18, 2012)
Review: Now it’s Pascual Ferry’s turn to let us down: the art is much too sketchy with the issue looking like it was drawn in an afternoon, especially the Broxton scenes. But then there’s a battle drawn-out long enough to fill the book without having enough going on to justify it. Fraction’s story is a tad confusing: it took me three readings to catch on that the Aesir were animating the giants. And remind me again, why is Eric Solvang in this story? One more part and it had better be good—but I’m not counting on it.

Thor #620 Synopsis by Peter Silvestro

As blood falls on Earth and the Aesir lie in trances, Odin invokes the ritual which will summon the Asgardian Blood Colossus to their aid. In Broxton, Dr Eric Solvang and Jane Foster are helping people to the shelters when a huge alien appears announcing the end of the world and advising them to remind their loved ones how they feel. The Lady Kelda overhears this and heads out into the crimson rain….

The World Eaters finally attack and they are met by the rising of an Asgardian Blood Legion, an army of malformed giants, each powered by the spirit of one of the Asgardian heroes. An apocalyptic battle ensues, with the two mighty kings facing one another. Thor recalls Solvang’s advice to cut down the World Tree at its roots. He directs his Colossus to take up the Odinsword, as Odin gloats over the impending doom of the enemy….
