There is a wedding in Niffleheim: Hela,
Goddess of Death is marrying Balder the Brave, with proud father Loki
giving away the bride and Thori as the flower girl....
Earlier the proceedings were less
peaceful: Thor was fighting his vicious nephew Fenris Wolf. Loki and
Tyr, brothers, were attempting to kill one another. Hela was
challenging Balder (and Karnilla) to combat to decide the rulership
of Hel. Skurge was waiting to see who would come out on top before
choosing sides. And Thori, confused, decided to murder everyone and
sort it out later. Defeating Fenris, Thor brought the quarrels to a
halt. Balder advised all to start working together to battle Sindr,
Queen of Cinders, whose armies are on their way. The heroes couldn't
stop bickering so Loki made a suggestion....
As the wedding proceeds, Thor realizes
that the dead of Niffleheim will not be enough to defeat Sindr, they
need the Einherjar, the warriors of Valhalla—but they don't know
how to get there. Thor has a suggestion, one which even Loki balks
at: Loki must kill Thor. So after some argument, Loki does the deed,
stabbing Thor with a magic dagger. “Ah. It's not...what it looks
like. Except I suppose it probably is.” Thor arrives at the gates
of Valhalla where the Valkyries are suspicious, smelling Loki's magic
about him....
The wedding continues but is brought to
a halt by Hela's lover—Thanos....
