Uncanny X-Men (2012 series) #19

5 X-Men split the Phoenix power between them. Sub-Mariner lost his share, followed by Colossus and Magik. But their lost power was passed to the remaining pair Cyclops and Emma Frost. Then at the end of last issue and Avengers Vs X-Men #11 Colossus took everything from Emma and became what everyone feared, Dark Phoenix.

Now Scott Summers senses everyone around him and he easily defeats Charles Xavier and then Wolverine. Then his life flashes before his eyes, seeing himself:- As a kid parachuting with his younger brother Alex out of the crashing plane containing their parents. Enduring an orphanage alone. Being taken on as a student by Xavier. Then meeting fellow student Jean Grey. Fighting Wolverine. Watching Jean as Phoenix die on the Moon. Cheating on Jean with Emma. Fighting Wolverine again. Then betraying Emma and Charles.

Then as Phoenix he's flying round the world destroying Paris and Sydney, fighting Logan yet again, destroying Beijing, turning Beast into a heap of maggots and then either undoing that or not doing it in the 1st place. Then he's attacked by Nova in the skies over Tibet, and then he fights the combo of Hope Summers and Scarlet Witch. But during that fight he feels himself expanding and leaving Earth for space until he reaches a white wall and hears Jean's voice. And then he's defeated by Hope and feels the Phoenix leaving him and going to her.

Later Beast visits Cyclops in his temporary confinement. Scott is glad to see Hank McCoy's alive and unharmed, but he remembers all the others deaths and destruction. Hank tells him that Hope is using the Phoenix power to repair all the damage he caused, but some people remain dead including Prof X. And now the world hates mutants even more than before. But he lets slip that many new mutants have appeared. Scott says he'll take the punishment for his crimes but now he knows it was worth it because Hope (actually the departing Phoenix Force) has triggered this new wave of mutants. And as Beast leads him away to his permanent prison Scott makes a triumphant X with his arms.
