Years ago, Daredevil met Thor and tried to reconcile Thor's divine status and his own Catholic faith. Days ago, the forces of Malekith invaded Manhattan and a helicopter carrying Mayor Wilson “Kingpin” Fisk was brought down by a Frost Giant. Now refugees are praying for deliverance in a church besieged by giants; Daredevil arrives with the powers of Heimdall to hear all ten realms and he fights off the giants with Heimdall's sword—though he doesn't know if that makes him a god. Among the rescued is an aide to Wilson Fisk; DD asks him what happened to Fisk. Answer: he is a prisoner of Malekith, under watch by Kurse. Malekith wants to know how to break Daredevil; Fisk just laughs....

Review / Commentaries

War of the Realms: War Scrolls #1 Review by (April 17, 2019)

Review: A collection of shorter pieces spotlighting minor characters in the War of the Realms is a pretty nice endeavor: DD's tale is suitably gloomy, Warriors Three more lighthearted and funny, Wolverine's optimistic (!), Howard's just silly and a bit vulgar. All is cool. PS Check out Nightcat, a failed project by Stan Lee, it's a hoot.

Comments: “Note: Read WAR OF THE REALMS #2 before this issue.” The Daredevil tale follows from WOTR #1 and the origin of his powers will be in WOTR #3, the Warriors Three story corresponds with page 1. Iron Man and Captain Marvel have cameos in the Warriors Three tale, as do a Nightcat record album and a stuffed Howard the Duck doll (both in the trash). Wolverine tale has cameos by the Warriors Four, Captain America, Black Panther, Captain Marvel, and Dr Strange. Howard's story has a cameo by Hellcat.
