Story Name:

Revenge of the beast

Synopsis

Warlock and the Infinity Watch #6 synopsis by Rob Johnson
Rating: 4 stars
The Man-Beast has sent dupes to kill the High Evolutionary and has kidnapped 4 of the bearers of the Infinity Gems (Drax The Destroyer, Gamora, Moondragon and Pip The Troll). Adam Warlock has saved the Evolutionary, defeated Man-Beast's automatons and his armoured aide Triax. Now he faces the Infinity Thrall, an energy being the MB has conjured up using the power of the Gems.

Warlock's powers prove ineffectual against the Thrall, even his Soul Gem, so he flees (after losing his cloak). But the Space Gem's power allows the Thrall to teleport to wherever he goes, and its own blasts prove very effective. All the while Man-Beast's boast echo through the giant spaceship, of how his machinery allows him to safely control the Gems. Adam hides in a confined space but the Thrall just tears apart the ship to get at him. This gives our hero an idea.

After giving Man-Beast a last chance to surrender, which of course the villain dismisses without a thought, Warlock flies off again but this time with a destination in mind. All the while the Infinity Thrall power blasts its way after him. Adam escapes out into space and the Thrall follows him there too. He allows himself to be hit and falls onto a certain part of the ship. The Thrall prepares the killing blow.

Triax tries to get his master to stop, but Man-Beast brushes him aside. He urgently indicates where Warlock has landed, and MB realises too late what is happening. The blow lands. That part of the ship explodes, and that includes the engines. And without power Man-Beast's machinery can't control the Thrall, and it dissipates.

The spaceship is falling to Earth. Man-Beast and Triax escape in an escape pod leaving the 4 Gem-bearers unconscious in their containment unit and Warlock presumed dead. (But remember we saw Pip waking up last issue, and Moondragon seems to be awake now too.) But Adam is still alive, albeit too weak to stand. He desperately crawls to help his friends as the vessel plummets down into an ocean (presumably onto an island because we see it burning).

But then we see all 5 of our gang watching from another island. Pip managed to teleport them all to safety, and Moondragon mentally located Adam so Pip could take him too. Pip just thinks this demonstrates how the Infinity Watch work so much better as a team. Warlock cautiously agrees.
