Warlock and the Infinity Watch #14 Review by (February 11, 2022)
Moondragon has recently returned from her app in Silver Surfer: Homecoming. Comatose Adam Warlock's essence has recently taken a trip into the future in Cyberspace 3000 #6-8.

Pip explains that he used the power to transport himself and other people to a place 1 of the others knows in Infinity War #2 when he took Thanos and the Infinity Watch to the Infinity Well which only Thanos had visited before.

Senator Kyle Munson will continue to hassle the Watch, next in #22, before eventually being exposed as that recurring Warlock foe the Man-Beast.

Count Abyss will make a preliminary move in #16 but then take time out while everyone else gets involved in Infinity Crusade until he returns more permanently with Maya in #23. At some point we'll learn that Abyss' 1st name is Milos and Maya's last name is Teraxtola.

Synopsis / Summary / Plot

Warlock and the Infinity Watch #14 Synopsis by Rob Johnson
The Infinity Watch is living in a castle given to them on Monster Isle by its monarch Mole Man. But although they helped stop Magus taking over the universe in the Infinity War event it left their leader Adam Warlock in a coma. Gamora is watching over him and Moondragon joins her saying that she can still mentally detect no brain activity. She drags the green alien away to distract her by demonstrating how possession of the Mind Gem has enhanced her mental powers. She levitates the 2 of them in the air and then pulls multiple stones from the castle walls and telekinetically juggles them.

Gamora wishes the other team members were training as diligently as Moonie, who responds that the team will probably disintegrate without Adam. At that point Drax crashes through an outside wall and apologises - the flying guy was practising landing. Then he flies out again. Gamora asks Heather Douglas if she's quitting and gets told not yet because she has unfinished business with Drax. Gamora opines that it won't go well if he remembers he's her father, and last time that he died *she* killed him.

Then a Moloid runs up to inform them that soldiers are invading the Island. Moondragon recognises them as UN troops. The team (the 3 we've met plus Pip the Troll) gather in Mole Man's throneroom. Harvey Elder has to admit that Monster Isle has never been *officially* recognised as a sovereign state by the UN, they've just left him alone. A TV shows that a Senator Kyle Munson has stirred up trouble by claiming that the alliance of Mole Man with the Watch who have the Infinity Gems is a threat to US Security. The UN troops are here to take control until the situation can be sorted out.

Gamora dissuades Mole Man from unleashing his Moloid army. In the absence of Warlock she'll go and negotiate with them. Pip and Heather have a bet on how long until she gets in a fight. The leader Capt Hammer says they're here to keep her and others safe from the monsters. There aren't any in sight but he figures they're waiting for nightfall to attack. When she tries to reason with him he orders her gagged and taken away. So it's only been 3 minutes before she starts fighting. (Moondragon wins the bet.)

Moonie still tells Mole Man to hold his troops back - Gamora needs the exercise. She and Pip have another bet on how long the UN troops will last. They have to stop Drax joining the fight and ruining the bet. (They tell him to go watch Alf on TV.) 8 minutes later Pip's won his money back.

Pip catches up with Gamora on another beach. They agree that Adam would have handled it better but Pip says in his absence she's their best leader. Gamora's amazed that Pip's even staying but he says that he and Drax consider the Watch their family and the Island their home. (Pip is mainly drawn by the free beer and reasonable TV reception.)

The UN troops are leaving but the pair know that this won't be the end. Next time the invasion will be serious, so Gamora wants to know how well Pip has mastered the Space Gem. He shows her how he can teleport with just a thought, and then how quickly he can do multiple jumps. He can also 'port another person if they're in contact - he holds her hand and they're suddenly in Dr Strange's Greenwich Village house (DrS is there with his pupil Rintrah). Pip can only go to somewhere he's been before, but with the contact he can also 'port to somewhere the other person knows. And they wind up in the place where Gamora's people were slaughtered by Badoon.

Back on the Island the 2 compare notes, revealing that they both have increased strength in the bodies Warlock gave them when they reincarnated from Soul World (Infinity Gauntlet #1). But this may not be enough if the UN sends the Avengers or the Fantastic Four next.

Meanwhile in a reality far far away a new villain Count Abyss with his female companion Maya is observing Gamora. He's learned that the Watch have the Infinity Gems, but the 1 he wants is Warlock's Soul Gem.

Meanotherwhile Eternity tries to waken Adam from his coma.
