Synopsis

World War Hulk: Front Line #1 synopsis by Peter Silvestro
Rating: 3 stars
At the newsroom of Front Line Daily, Ben Urich and Sally Floyd head out to lunch while musing over the sudden disappearance of all pigeons from New York City. Ben recalls how this recent enterprise, started during the superhero civil war, was in danger of failing, sending Sally into an alcoholic depression, when a mysterious figure offered to finance the paper to create some real competition for J. Jonah Jameson’s Daily Bugle. As Ben and Sally walk the streets, suddenly a huge stone ship appears in the sky, terrifying the populace, leading to a massive evacuation. Several of the Front Line staff, led by Ben and Sally, elect to stay behind to cover the crisis. Ben and his photographer Roger are on the scene when Korg and other of the Warbound present the Hulk’s ultimatum. At the police station Detective Danny Granville, Sally’s lover, is called into a meeting with Korg. Hulk’s mechanoid, ARCH-E-5912, has been killed by a human, and Danny has been assigned to aid Korg in apprehending the aggressor. That evening, Sally and her photographer Kenny witness Hulk’s battle with Iron Man and wonder if Earth can possibly win this war.

Story occurs at the same time as WORLD WAR HULK #1. Hulk appears only briefly, in his hologram ultimatum and in glimpses of his fight with Iron Man.

World War Hulk: Front Line #1 Review by (February 15, 2010)
Front Line's mystery backer turns out in #6 to be J Jonah Jameson himself. The person here was only a go-between, as Ben Urich would have recognised JJJ's voice. They get the old offices of the Alternative, which Sally Floyd used to work for and which has gone bust. We see that the poor and minorities are not being evacuated along with the middle-class and rich white folks. We learn that there are lots of refugees from Planet Hulk/Sakaar on the stone spaceship. In particular we meet some of Miek's insectoid-people. ARCH-E-5912 has never been listed as a member of the Warbound but he's been with Hulk on and off since his #93, only the 2nd issue on Sakaar.
