Story Name:

And Six Shall Crush the Hulk!

Synopsis

Incredible Hulk Annual, The (1976 series) #5 synopsis by Wayne Lackey
Rating: 4 stars
This begins with the Hulk in the midst of a fight with Army soldiers outside of Fort Carson, Colorado. The Hulk heaves a tank in the soldiers' direction, but they continue to regroup and attack him. Finally, the Hulk has had enough and does a ground-pound, which quickly takes the fight out of the soldiers.

The Hulk jumps into the air and lands beside a lake. His leap is monitored on a video screen by a figure covered in shadow. Behind this figure are five tubes, each of which holds a monster (as alluded to by the shadowy figure). The figure then releases the first of the monsters to destroy the Hulk. This begins a succession of battles wherein the Hulk battles and defeats Diablo (smoke monster), Taboo (mud monster), Groot (tree monster), Goom (not sure what kind of monster this is), and Blip (a poor man's Zzzax).

The Hulk is exhausted after these battles, and collapses on the ground. He is then quickly collected by the shadowy figure, who restrains him, and explains that he is going to kill him. As the figure comes out of the shadow, the Hulk recognizes him as "White-Thing", which translates to Xemnu, the Living Titan (whom the Hulk last saw in Defenders #12).

As Xemnu is about to slay the Hulk, his underground fortress begins to shake. The soldiers have traced a communications blackout back to this location (which is under the riverbed near a dam), and have begun shelling it. Xemnu attempts to escape in a big bubble, but the Hulk latches on as it ascends, and eventually breaks the bubble, dropping both combatants to the top of the dam.

They continue to battle until the strain is too much for the dam to take. It finally bursts, carrying both of them away.

After an hour or so, the Hulk is the only one to emerge from the river downstream, and seemingly the only survivor. The Hulk leaps away in victory, once again exclaiming that Hulk is the strongest one there is!
