Rating: 3 stars
Captain America takes Falcon to SHIELD headquarters to meet Nick Fury. Falcon proves his mettle by going toe-to-toe with Dum-Dum Dugan in the gym. Cap stops by to talk to Sharon but she brushes him off, pleading concern with the new Project Earth-Dig. Meanwhile, SHIELD biochemist Dr. Erik Gorbo is turning bitter because of his creepy appearance and unrequited love for file clerk Julia. That night, Gorbo takes an experimental serum to increase his strength and is shocked to find himself turning into a huge gorilla. After proving that the antidote works as well, he decides to turn to crime, robbing several banks and terrorizing the city. A few nights later Cap and the Falcon catch the gorilla in the act but the monster mentally controls neighborhood dogs to make his getaway. The next day is the test of Project Earth-Dig, a massive machine digging an incredibly deep hole in the Earth to dispose of nuclear waste. Gorbo, upset when Julia rebuffs his dinner invitation, turns into the gorilla and tries to wreck the drilling apparatus. Cap is on the scene and battles the giant ape and both hero and villain plunge into the deepest hole on Earth….
