Synopsis
In the streets of Singapore, Captain America watches helplessly as the Hulk battles MODOK. Trapped inside the monstrous giant head is the mind of the suicidal Damocles Rivas, unaware that if his gruesome host dies, his DNA will become airborne, slaughtering millions—or transforming them into duplicates of MODOK. Cap gives the Falcon back in America the task of teleporting MODOK away from the danger zone. While Cap dodges the crossfire between the two foes, Falcon and SHIELD Agent Ali Morales frantically search Rivas’ lab for the transport device. Finally Cap’s pleading with Rivas gets through and the former criminal gains control of the MODOK head and uses a mental blast to suppress the Hulk’s personality, putting Bruce Banner in charge of the Hulk’s body. With the action temporarily halted, Ali and Falcon have a romantic tête-à-tête. In Singapore, Banner/Hulk is given a lab and a comm-link established with Hank Pym and Reed Richards, so they can work on a way to neutralize the MODOK virus and cure Rivas. Banner manages to cobble something together in the few minutes before the suppressed beast remerges—and when MODOK regains control of his body, the Hulk breaks loose and goes berserk. Cap gives the signal and he and MODOK are transported back to the Rivas lab where he consults with Pym and Richards as to whether the hastily-devised cure can be trusted. Pym says yes and Richards says no—but Cap made a promise to Rivas and is about to administer the drug when Redwing swoops down and destroys the sample. Falcon arrives to tell Cap to wait until the cure is assured to be safe and effective and then flies off….
