Synopsis

Daredevil (1964 series) #211 synopsis by reviewer Anthony Silvestro
Rating: 3.5 stars

The office of a local newspaper called the Revealer is interrupted by the arrival of the Kingpin, demanding to see a writer named Marco. Marco wrote a slanderous article insinuating Fisk is romantically attached to an actress he was seen with, and Fisk wants him to write a retraction. Not only that, guessing that Marco was put up to this by Micah Synn, Fisk wants Marco to in turn write a defaming article against Synn. Meanwhile, Daredevil stumbles through an alley after his battle with Synn and Crossbow last issue, still nursing his nasty arm wound, and decides to see Glorianna to get it patched up. Elsewhere, the media gets a load of the arrival of yet another of the Kingorge Tribe in America, the Vikah, a cross between a doctor and a wise man. Matt gets patched up by Glorianna, under the explanation that he was mugged.

Matt then decides to head back to his office to get some rest and as he approaches, he hears screaming. He discovers Becky getting abducted by some of Synn’s men and crashes through the window to try and rescue her. He takes out Synn’s men in his office but is unable to prevent others from driving away with Becky. Becky is then brought before Micah Synn and the Vikah to be used as a human sacrifice for their god Mow! Daredevil races back to his apartment to find more of Synn’s men inside. He then heads to Foggy’s place to find that his place is being watched too! He hears Debbie decry the article Marco published in the Revealer about Synn, once more regretting helping Foggy marry her. Daredevil realizes that Synn’s men seem to be stationed everywhere Matt Murdock might be and this, coupled with his stolen scarf and Synn’s acute senses, clues him in that Synn knows his secret!

Across town, at the offices of the Revealer, the janitor finds that Marco has been killed! Daredevil decides he has to swallow his pride and head to the Kingpin for help but as he approaches, he senses another abduction in progress! Daredevil takes out more of Synn’s men and jumps on their escaping van after a woman is forced into it! Just minutes after that, the Kingpin receives a call that his wife Vanessa was taken, as he mourns a necessary sacrifice! As the van approaches Synn’s building, Daredevil is halted by a police barricade to prevent him from entering due to the restraining order. Daredevil slips away from the police in order to figure out his next move as inside, the sacrificial ritual is ready to begin!

Matt gains entry to the building on the basis of being Synn’s attorney. Daredevil arrives just as Becky and Vanessa are about to be sacrificed, using a fire extinguisher to put out the sacrificial candles. He frees the women while holding off Synn’s men, and Vanessa tries to get Becky to safety. Synn himself enters the fray and just as Vanessa gets Becky to the elevator, she’s struck in the back by a spear and killed! Daredevil escapes out of the skylight, as down in the lobby, Becky alerts the police to the situation! Later, Daredevil heads to see the Kingpin to tell him what happened. Fisk plays a video revealing that the woman who was killed was an actress named Heidi Devoto that he had hired to impersonate Vanessa. Fisk admits his regret at her death and Daredevil can tell he means it. Knowing Synn is too dangerous, Daredevil decides to join Kingpin in taking him down! To be continued!

Daredevil (1964 series) #211 Review by (December 10, 2025)

Review: Micah Synn continues to be endless trouble, and I continue not to like him. It’s a little ridiculous just how much he gets away with and how much he can orchestrate and manipulate considering how in the public eye he is. His arrival in the U.S. is supposedly the biggest news story meaning everyone is watching him, making the fact that he keeps just getting away with very blatant and public crimes all the more confusing. He kidnaps Becky and who seems to be Vanessa Fisk for a sacrificial ritual to his god, and just hours after a demeaning article is written about him, the writer ends up dead. Yeah, that’s not suspicious at all. What makes it even more frustrating is that he's presented as much more dangerous and resourceful than he really should be, and isn’t interesting enough to justify it. With how many resources he has, Fisk shouldn’t have any trouble completely destroying this guy, let alone necessitating Fisk and Daredevil to team up to take him on. Seriously, he’s a just-discovered wannabe Tarzan with as-of-yet no money who was barely civilized until a few weeks ago. He shouldn’t be this tough and untouchable.

Of course, Fisk is always one step ahead, as the “Vanessa” that was captured (and killed) turned out to be an actress he hired to impersonate his wife. No one really thought he was going to let her get taken so easily, after all. Despite all my frustrations with Micah Synn in general, this issue was actually laid out quite well. Mazzucchelli’s art looks wonderful, making the issue look quite nice, with stylishly presented sequences and artistic touches, and it definitely helps elevate the issue. There was also some nice foreshadowing for the actress twist at the beginning, and Fisk is written as well as he usually he is, so the issue is certainly not that bad, as far as this storyline has gone. A ringing endorsement, I know. I’ll still be quite glad when I never have to see Micah Synn again.

Comments: The Kinjorge Tribe is now consistently spelled Kingorge.
