Fear has come upon New York City
as everything is going crazy:
Navee Moshtaghi, a cabbie of Middle Eastern background is attacked by a deadly mob—and
Spider-Man swoops down to rescue him. Spidey is overwhelmed by the fear running
through the city; he has to help but the fear has taken him too as he can’t
reach Aunt May. Navee calms Spidey by telling him that he (Navee) must get home
to his family—the Fear will have to wait. Spidey swings away….
Spider-Man is driving himself to
exhaustion, helping everyone he can because it is his responsibility…..
At the Daily Bugle, Robbie Robertson,
Betty Brant, Ben Urich, and Norah Winters watch the crisis over
their newsfeed. A call to Mayor J. Jonah Jameson results in his blaming
Spider-Man for the disaster. The staff are afraid but Robbie reminds them they
all have jobs to do….
As an out-of-control truck is
about to hit a building’s façade, Spidey swoops down and stretches webbing
across two streetlamps, halting the vehicle. Spidey removes a crazy kid from
the cab as the kid’s bomb explodes. Police blame Spider-Man and open fire so he
flees hastily….
Spider-Man reaches Aunt May’s
downtown apartment and finds her phone there but no one home. He forces himself
not to think the worst and realizes he is almost out of web-fluid. He finds a
businessman on the ledge of a high building about to jump; Spidey tries to talk
him into returning inside. Spidey reaches out a hand…but is distracted by a
rat…and the man jumps. With no web-fluid, Spidey jumps after him, seizes him
and grabs onto a balcony. But Spidey’s shoulder is dislocated and he falls, the
man plummeting after. Both men hit the roofs of parked cars, injured but alive.
Then a horde of rats emerges from the sewers, swarming over Spider-Man, biting
him, overwhelming him and behind them Spidey sees Vermin…and that’s when the
Fear takes Spider-Man….
