Synopsis: Ant-Man (Eric O’Grady), new to the Avengers, sneaks into the Mansion by clinging to Beast’s fur, unaware that the system has detected and identified him. He tries to enter Stature’s ear for some mischief but Justice mistakes him for a bug and swats him away; he then nearly gets stepped on by Iron Man. Ant-Man goes to the kitchen where he eavesdrops on a dull conversation between Steve Rogers and Captain America (Bucky) then heads for the training room where he spies on Spider-Woman and Hawkeye and the latter accidentally shoots off Eric’s flight pack. Eric flies an ant around the building and is stopped by Quicksilver who tells him that he spotted Eric and Vision, Tony Stark, and Wolverine would all have detected him had they tried. Pietro tells Eric he doesn’t have to sneak around the Mansion, he is an Avenger, he can walk in the front door. So Eric grows to full size and walks in the door…to a hearty welcome from Steve Rogers and the others….

Review / Commentaries

I Am an Avenger #5 Review by (December 14, 2021)

Review: The first tale is a reprint but one that serves an important purpose, telling depressed teens (and other comic readers) to seek help if they feel life is getting to be too much. That it features Captain America (Bucky Barnes version) is just a little Marvel bonus. Second story is another variation on the recurring theme of a hero not feeling worthy of the Avengers and learning that he is welcome after all. The art on this one is a little strange, everyone is thin and angular but it works. The last one is a nice vignette that ends the series the way it started: with the Young Avengers being in awe of the Big Guys and determining to do better.
