Tony Stark heads into an office building, pursued by the thugs who have been shooting at him and he hides in a closet. Then he has an idea—then Iron Man comes crashing out, vanquishes his enemies, and jets off to another tower to end this ordeal….
The TV news show 20 VISION does a scathing story on Iron Man and Tony Stark, raking up every scandal he has been named in. Then host Beatrice Walders introduces her guest, Captain America, who begins to defend Tony and Shellhead for their heroic endeavors but when Walders suggests that since Tony Stark finances the Avengers they are going to cover up for him, Cap is offended and walks out, though Carol Danvers tells him he did fine….
At that moment in Central Park, Iron Man is reeling from Radioactive Man’s self-detonation, his armor melting and his teleportation device not working. He channels all his power into the teleporter and it finally works, sending him away…to drop to the ground powerless. While pulling himself together, he gets a call from Pepper Potts, telling him Trevor Donahue wants to meet with Tony Stark….
Tony meets with Donahue who tells him that the real mastermind behind the attempt to smear him is Tiberius Stone who also has a vendetta against Donahue. It seems Tony’s father Howard Stark was driving Ty’s father out of business; the “accidental” death of the Stones in a car crash was really a suicide and Ty has never forgiven Stark. Donahue was Ty’s mentor and he learned how to be a bad guy. Now Donahue is dying and he wants Tony Stark to bring Ty Stone to justice for both of them….
Tony returns to the office and informs Happy Hogan and Pepper Potts that Tiberius Stone is the real baddie and offers them the chance to cancel their contracts and distance themselves from Stark before things get nasty. Even though they had been thinking two issues ago, they decline….
Tony heads to Ty’s office and punches him out. Ty reveals that they were never friends, Ty was manipulating him the entire time, jealous that Tony was always ahead. And Ty arranged for the murder of his own parents so that he would inherit the firm sooner to fight Tony. And then a robot arm comes down and pierces the back of Tony’s neck….
