Gamma Flight is able to locate Hulk
from his Gamma signature, the strange thing is...there are two
identical signatures. Walter Langkowski invites Jackie McGee to join
him and Puck as they head to New Mexico to find the Hulk....
Absorbing Man's soul is trapped in
Hell, leaving him able to say only “I'm sorry.” over and
over....
On Earth, the emaciated Hulk, drained
of much of his energy, is facing Crusher Creel's mutilated body, the
flesh of his upper torso ripped to either side with the fanged skull
and spinal column standing up in the center, also mumbling it's
sorry. Meanwhile, Bushwacker is a short distance away, aiming a
sniper rifle (made from his own hand) at the Hulk, reporting this
latest development to General Fortean at Shadow Base who advises him
to wait for the shot. As Creel continues to absorb energy from Hulk
with each blow, Hulk responds by ripping off the spinal column and
swinging the skull like a weapon against its (former) owner. The
Gamma Flight ship arrives with Langkowski calling to the Hulk to
listen. Bushwacker takes the shot, a cyanide hollow-point bullet
hitting Hulk in the eye. Hulk, assuming Langkowski shot him, smashes
the craft to bits. Hulk pursues the diminished Creel to the site of
the original bomb test, pausing briefly to be shot by Puck. Creel
absorbs radiation from the soil and is able to open the “Green
Door.” It glows brightly then subsides leaving them all in a grim
wasteland with an evil red sky. Asked where they are, Hulk replies,
“Welcome to Hell.”
