Prologue: Captain Marvel (Carol
Danvers) meets with Sasquatch of Alpha Flight to ask why he has been
so aggressive in the field lately, concerned that he is spending too
much time as his bestial alter ego. Privately Sasquatch turns back to
Walter Langkowski with great difficulty but still sees Sasquatch
looking back at him in a mirror....
At a Minnesota hospital, Sasquatch is
on a murderous rampage; Bruce Banner tells Jackie McGee to evacuate
the building while he goes to talk to the mad monster. Sasquatch
slashes Bruce's throat forcing a transformation into the Hulk. In the
ensuing battle that spills into the rest of the occupied hospital,
Hulk deduces that Walter's long stretch in his Sasquatch form opened
the way for him to be possessed by an evil spirit. The monster tells
Hulk to look at their reflection in a window; in place of Sasquatch,
Hulk sees his father, Brian Banner. Sasquatch/Banner adds
psychological punishment to physical blows as the fight continues.
The Hulk cowers beneath him until he begins to fight back, telling
his father he only scares Bruce and demanding to know what power sent
him there. The monster mutters about a host personality until a
security guard arrives with Jackie. An attempt to tase Sasquatch
leads only to the guard's death; Hulk seizes his foe and absorbs all
of the gamma power from him, leaving Walter Langkowki forever cured
of being Sasquatch. Hulk demands Jackie reveal why she has a personal
vendetta against the Hulk; she tells him that he destroyed her home
many years ago and she has questions. Hulk allows her only one and
she wants to know “How do I get to be what you are?” Hulk stares
at her a moment then tells her to go home. As Hulk walks through the
parking lot, he looks at a car window and sees only Brian Banner
reflected....
