Bruce Banner is plummeting from a plane
in flight and he's very happy with it all—having had all the anger
and fear sucked out of him by the creature that Randall Jessup has
morphed into, thanks to the Terrigen Mists. So Bruce breaks two of
his fingers jump-starting his anxiety and triggering his change into
the Hulk—and he smashes into the ground with a very loud noise.
Back in the plane, Melinda Leucenstern puts parachutes on Daman Veteri
and Patricia Wolman and pushes them to safety, escaping the
Randall monster. “Randall” leaps too and is met by Hulk in midair
and the two are stuck in a loop of transformation that ends when they
hit the ground. Their fight continues on the ground until Hulk's
assertion that he pities Jessup forces the monster to return to human
form....
At the new Beehive, Drs
Ted Goodrich and Stella Webb are studying a captured Terrigen cocoon as a
step toward creating a superior race; they are alerted to the
discovery of a new Inhuman (Randall Jessup)....
As
Bruce wonders if there is any childhood trauma in Randal's life
(there is, as we saw in issue #16), a SHIELD medical craft arrives,
carrying Banner's team. They use the threat of the Hulk on the pilot
to get him to land in the desert so they can study Randall up close.
Later, Patty confesses to Bruce that she wanted to mutate, in hopes
of curing her malady. Bruce devises a treatment that may even reverse
Randall's mutation if he can keep calm for the next few hours. Then
Goodrich teleports in, clouts Bruce, and carries Randall off; Bruce
turns into Hulk and his assistants enter. Patty accuses Hulk of
having done something to Randy and starts punching him....
