Indestructible Hulk #10 Review by (April 23, 2019)

Review: And now we find out why the Hulk's intellect changes with the circumstances of his transformation—because this story wouldn't work unless Hulk had a near-primal brain so that he would panic like an unreasoning animal and give the story much of its excitement. And pitting the unlikely team of Hulk/Daredevil against one another works out much better for the story and the end reveals that even at his most primal, Hulk (usually) recognizes his friends. An alternate explanation is given in the following issue, namely that the timestream is going funny causing the Hulk to do likewise. Plus, the cover is quite clever, with DD's batons covering the eyes of both Bruce and Hulk.

Comments: “Marvel Now!”--Cover. Part two of two parts. Final appearance (as of 1/2019) of Agence Byzantine. Banner mentions Professor Bruce Drinkwater of the University of Bristol; he is a real person, an expert in ultrasonics. He also mentions Prof. Craig Engler, University of Latveria; this guy is fictitious.

Synopsis / Summary / Plot

Indestructible Hulk #10 Synopsis by Peter Silvestro

Hulk has saved Daredevil from the explosion in the bar—by jumping into a subway tunnel in the path of a speeding train. After another mighty leap and DD has calmed down, he uses his enhanced hearing to continue on the trail of the Agence Byzantine agent with the sonic rifle, after persuading the Hulk to aid him....

The gunrunner has reached Baron Zemo, who executes the poor schnook with the ultrasound gun for leading the heroes to his hideout. Zemo notifies HQ that their plan of creating a superweapons cache in downtown NYC is off; the cadre of Hydra Agents arm themselves with what's there and try to fight off the rampaging Hulk. Zemo fires a photon weapon to blind Hulk and DD then he teleports out of there. Of course, the weapon doesn't affect Daredevil but the Hulk, finding himself sightless, panics and starts tearing up the weapons cache. DD contacts Maria Hill and finds she's still at the enemy ship. Thinking fast, DD uses the sonic rifle to lure Hulk away from the villains' lair and through the streets, deafening himself in the process. He steers Hulk out of the path of a crowded sightseeing bus and then the gun overloads and explodes, hurling the hero into the wreckage of a building. Hulk, having regained his sight, rushes toward DD with a roar...and Maria Hill finds Hulk holding up a wall to keep it from collapsing on DD....

Epilogue: Bruce Banner and DD are checked out by SHIELD doctors and Bruce's eyesight is normal while the ringing in DD's ear will subside soon. Hill asks what Bruce and DD talked about and the lawyer refuses to divulge that information. The look on Hill's face tells Bruce that the matter isn't over....

Bruce Banner's four assistants (Daman Veteri, Randall Jessup, Melinda Leucenstern, and Patricia Wolman) appear briefly but didn't make it into the synopsis.
