Synopsis

Indestructible Hulk #5 synopsis by Peter Silvestro
Rating: 4 stars

Hulk is being dragged to the depths of the ocean by a tentacled alien creature when he is rescued by a submarine belonging to the Lemurian rebels. Bruce Banner is awoken by an officer named Mara who expresses an attraction for the Hulk; her commander/fiance Canor is jealous and warns Bruce away from her. Arriving at the rebel base, they enlist Bruce in their plan to discover what Attuma wants from Lemuria, some scientific discovery of their alchemists; Bruce spies a formula he recognizes: the Alkahest....

The new weapon is presented to Attuma and he calls for a demonstration: a small globe is launched at a Chinese submarine which splits open and the crew is reduced to skeletons in seconds....

Bruce explains that Alkahest is a universal solvent that will destroy anything, even its own container, and that released in the ocean it will float to the top and kill everyone on the surface. Canor assembles his attack crew and they head to Attuma's lab; once there, he kisses Mara on the lips and she slugs him, creating the Hulk. As the Lemurians destroy the lab, Hulk battles Attuma until he is forced into the maw of the Kophin, a giant monster whose hide is impenetrable. But that's not to say Hulk can't stretch through it, seizing the enemy warlord. Hulk leaps out of the beast's mouth and hurls Attuma in then the Kophin retires to its deepest lair. Mara kisses Hulk on the mouth and he reverts to Bruce Banner, nauseating Mara. As the Lemurians begin the rebuilding process, Bruce is picked up by the Dreadnaught, saying farewell to Hulk's new friends and clutching a scroll with the Alkahest on it....

Review / Commentaries

Indestructible Hulk #5 Review by (March 12, 2019)

Review: Hulk is sexy! At least to Mara of Lemuria which is a cute touch. Herein Hulk lets loose on Attuma and a giant monster which is always enjoyable. The underwater sequences are cool and there isn't a lot more to say about this issue. Things get screwy next time, though.

Comments: “Marvel Now!”--Cover. Part two of two parts. Not that anyone cares but Attuma returns in SQUADRON SUPREME Vol. 4.
