Synopsis

Secret Avengers (2010 series) #36 synopsis by Peter Silvestro
Rating: 4 stars

Earth-666: The Avengers of the Undead are holding council when Hawkeye, Captain Britain, and Beast enter. The three Avengers offer to return the Orb of Necromancy to the Undead in exchange for a portal to leave the dimension. As Brother Voodoo steps forward Cap B activates the Orb, transforming Voodoo into a living being. Without him to interfere, Cap B is able to open a portal back to 616 and the three escape with the Orb. They return to New York to find the city under siege by giant Sentinels. They see Spider-Man captured by a Sentinel so Cap B smashes through its head and rescues the Wall-Crawler. Spidey fills them in on the situation: a nano-mist is changing humans into cyborgs i.e. Descendants. Hawkeye is attacked by a Doombot and Beast reacts instinctively, breaking its neck. To their horror, the Doombot dies like a human. Cap B flies off to rescue the trapped Fantastic Four and Avengers but is intercepted by the Human Torch, leader of the Descendants, who shoots him out of the sky….

Back on the rooftop, Hawkeye, Spidey, and Beast are attacked and stunned by Deathlok Giant-Man and Deathlok Wasp. They recover the Orb and report back to Father who tells them they only need hold out until the Singularity….

In the Core, Black Widow and Venom break in to rescue Parvez but Black Ant zaps Natasha, having already taken down Valkyrie. The bad guy talks with Venom, asking for trust while they fight….

Human Torch duels with Captain Britain and they fall from the sky….

Hawkeye, Spidey, and Beast battle the two Deathlok Descendants. Beast produces an EMP disruptor and shocks Hank back to normal while Deathlok Wasp escapes with the Orb to the giant Sentinel Father is traveling in. Hank grows to extreme giant-size and clobbers the Sentinel….

Torch seizes Cap B by the throat and Black Ant zaps Venom in “self-defense”….

Secret Avengers (2010 series) #36 Review by (December 28, 2021)

Review: The big highlight is the big Giant-Man punching out a big Sentinel, getting a two-page spread. Meanwhile, Captain Britain outsmarts the Avengers of the Undead while Human Torch and Black Ant get the upper hand. Can’t wait to see what happens next—and fortunately, I don’t have to. I’m writing this all up eight years later so I can move on to the next issue immediately. So I did.

Comments: Part four of five parts. Final appearance of the Avengers of the Undead; the Spider-Man monster turns up in AMAZING SPIDER-MAN (2014) #9, part of the Spider-Verse. Brief appearance by Magneto’s robot Nanny, who had previously appeared in several X-Men issues
