Tomorrow Will Rise

Synopsis

Secret Avengers #35 synopsis by Peter Silvestro
Rating: 4 stars

Human Torch recalls how he had identified with Pinocchio and his desire to be a real boy; he realizes that humanity would never accept an android as human so he is now leading the Descendants to rise up and merge with the human race….

In Earth-666, Hawkeye, Beast, and Captain Britain are fighting three of the Avengers of the Undead, Franken-Castle, Mummy Thor, and Vampire Wolverine. Hawkeye uses a Sunburst Flare arrow to destroy Vampire Logan and the heroes escape. Cap B explains that his father had created the Descendants, using the Orb of Necromancy to give them true life. Now the robots’ Event is coming near and they reason that destroying the Orb would kill the Descendants. Hawkeye objects as the Avengers do not kill so the Orb is only a bargaining chip. Captain B has an idea how to get home….

Black Widow and Venom climb the tallest building in the Core to enter the Descendants’ HQ; they don’t realize they have been spotted by Black Ant….

Meanwhile, Father and his allies have marched into the United Nations Building where he announces to the Assembly that they are the first of a new race of sentient machines and they demand recognition of Bagalia as their homeland. He explains that the human race will join them after their bodies have been augmented with nanotechnology, bringing them immortality—and then a phony human’s head opens up, releasing a mist, spreading nanomites through the room, converting them into Descendants….

The Avengers (Captain America, Thor, Ms. Marvel, Vision, Iron Man) get word of this and then Vision starts to break down, detecting the coming of the Descendants. And then a giant Sentinel attacks Avengers Tower. Another one assaults the Baxter Building where Reed Richards and Thing are stranded. Spider-Man and Daredevil fight robots in Times Square as multiple robot sleeper agents release the nano-mist all over the world….

Review / Commentaries

Secret Avengers #35 Review by (December 21, 2021)

Review: The battle between three of our heroes and three of the Undead Avengers is highly entertaining, especially a mummy Thor. And then things get really dire at the end of the issue and it looks like the human race is doomed. Kudos to Rick Remender and Matteo Scalera for making a story with what feels like 500 characters intelligible and exciting.

Comments: Part three of five parts.
