Artur Zarrko, the Tomorrow Man, looks down from his prison
in Asgard, and sees the disaster that will happen that day because of Thor’s
arrogance. Sif and Balder approach him but he tells them it is too late, he
tried to warn them about Thor but they would not listen. Sif fears what is to
come and Zarrko tells her it is the wind of death….
The Consortium of Nations lays their plans for the
destruction of Thor and the priest is involved. And so it starts….
Thor flies out to a tiny desolate island to meet with the
priest from issue #64. The priest tells him it is an old atomic testing site.
Thor asks him why he called for this meeting. The priest tells him that
opposition toward him is growing, because of the failed attempt to restore the
dead girl to life….
The Consortium of Nations ensures that their armies are
ready….
Thor and the priest debate Thor’s wisdom and the sanctity of
life. The priest reveals that by playing with life and failing, he terrifies
the world; the priest calls him an “evil of unparalleled proportion” (as the
Consortium of Nations watches and wonders why he doesn’t get on with the plan).
The priest warns Thor he must leave before it is too late, as They won’t
tolerate his presence. The priest brings out Annette, the soulless girl, to
show Thor the evil of his work (and startling the Consortium who did not intend
the girl to be part of the plan) The priest advises Thor to leave one last time
and he refuses. So the priest presses the button that detonates a nuclear
weapon. There is an explosion. The Consortium orders their armies to attack.
Via a portal they assault the Rainbow Bridge, shooting Heimdall who plummets to
Earth. A group rushes to finish the guardian off but Heimdall is more than a
match for them….
In Asgard, Balder and Sif are surprised by the invasion and
as they fight the enemy, they are told Thor is dead. Zarrko grabs a weapon and
shoots at Balder then he races out of the prison and is astonished to see the
glories of Asgard for the first time. But soldiers have planted explosives all
over the city. The first detonation drops a tower into New York City, causing
death and destruction. It was considered an acceptable price to pay to be rid
of Thor and Asgard. There was one further miscalculation: for the plan to work
Thor had to die…
…and he rises from the bomb site, angry. Very angry….
