Thor #28 Review by (October 19, 2022)
Review: Not sure I understood all of the story with its heavy King in Black background but it was cool. Another crossover is on the horizon so we’ll sit back and wait for it.
Comments: The one-shot THANOS: DEATH NOTES takes place at this point to lead into THOR #29. Plotted by Al Ewing and Donny Cates. Issue includes a tribute to the late Mike Pasciullo, Marvel marketing executive.

Synopsis / Summary / Plot

Thor #28 Synopsis by Peter Silvestro

Donald Blake is trapped beneath Asgard, sentenced to an eternity of serpent venom dripping into his eyes….

Above ground, Darkoth the Death Demon has been possessed by a new symbiote called Bedlam’s Child, wielding a hammer called Hellnir. He is facing Thor, Venom, Loki, and Sif, as the Warriors Three (plus Hildegarde) watch from a distance. Hellnir shoots fire at Thor, the two hammers collide and Venom fires web to bind their foe. Thor notices that Mjolnir is bleeding, dripping the yellow ichor of the gods. Webs do not hold Bedlam’s Child so Thor and Venom combine to create the God in Black, who takes on their enemy. “Thornom” beats Darkoth mercilessly with Mjolnir, while Loki conjures up a dragon to engulf the monster with fire. Soon, the symbiote abandons Darkoth and flees. Venom picks up Hellnir and reveals he is not Eddie Brock but his equivalent from the future, called Meridius, on a mission to save his world. Thor balks at helping him so the future King in Black attacks the God of Thunder. Thor responds by blasting Meridius with his full power, causing the King in Black to fade away and his hellish hammer to melt and seep into the ground…

…and the hammer binds with the imprisoned Don Blake, transforming him into a Venom-like monster….
