Hulk, tired of constantly being pursued and attacked, comments his anger to Jim Wilson as he turns into Bruce Banner. Surprised to seeing Jim, Banner invites him over to his apartment where they find Kropotkin the Great, a magician and former tenant, who has broken in to recover his stuff. While they argue, April Sommers, the housekeeper, shows up, and the argument elevates, which makes Banner lose his cool. After asking April and Kropotkin out, Banner jumps out the window and turns into the Hulk, who leaps away.

As he's leaping away, the Jack of Hearts attacks Hulk (he promised to bring down the man-monster in the previous issue). After a short-lived upper hand, Jack realizes how tough the Hulk really is. Both accidentally end up on a freight that's on fire, which ends up exploiting. The blast sends Jack away, who swims to shore safely. But there seem to be no signs of the Hulk.

Meanwhile, in SHIELD's Heli-Carrier, Thunderbolt RossClay Quartermain and Gaffer find out the mysterious capsule lifted from was empty. While searching for the intruder, he was operating controls in the shadows. He is a tall monster who speaks as if he were two personas instead of one...
