Synopsis

Captain America #9 synopsis by Peter Silvestro
Rating: 4 stars

At a top secret government re-education facility near Reno, Nevada, the hulking killer known as Crossbones suddenly appears one night kills two guards and enters the facility. He locates a young woman and carries her off….

As the SHIELD copters head into Mongolian airspace, Captain America tries to clear up the trouble between him and Sharon Carter stemming from an earlier incident…in Brooklyn, Sharon had confronted Steve Rogers about his request that Nick Fury remove her from the planned mission. Steve explained that he thought it would be too personal for her since her ex, Neal Tapper, died in the Philadelphia bombing. She countered that Steve was afraid she would kill Bucky Barnes, whom he still does not want to admit is alive… Now on the mission to kidnap Alesander Lukin from Kronas corporate headquarters in China, they lay their plans knowing that Lukin is in possession of a fully-powered Cosmic Cube and thus very dangerous. The SHIELD team assaults the building, taking out guards all the way up to the executive offices. There Cap leads the attack on the boardroom, seizing Lukin. He is ordered to stand down by a high-ranking American official in the room; US and UN officials are there to work out an oil deal with Kronas. Cap accuses Lukin of masterminding the Philadelphia attack; when Fury is unable to produce any evidence backing that assertion he is ordered to explain himself to the UN Secretary-General the next day. Fury orders his team out of the room, and Cap refuses an demand from the White House official to apologize to Lukin. Later, Lukin’s aide Leon warns of the growing danger of possession of the Cosmic Cube; Lukin flares up but assures him he only plans to use it for a few small things….

At the top secret government re-education facility near Reno, Nevada, Crossbones tells the young woman he has captured that she has been brainwashed; her real name is Synthia Schmidt—the daughter of the Red Skull….
