Synopsis / Summary / Plot

Civil War: Front Line #8 Synopsis by Peter Silvestro

Ben Urich visits the warehouse base of the Atlanteans (from "Sleeper Cell" in issues #6-7) to interview his police buddy Danny Granville. Danny tells him, off the record, that the victims of the slaughter were all Atlanteans, and there is a rumor going around that the Green Goblin was involved. Danny promises him another piece of info if Ben sets him up on a date with Sally Floyd….

Sally, meanwhile, is talking to Doug and Jerry (a mutant with another head sticking out of the back of an otherwise normal body); Doug introduces her to a homeless man named Stevie. Stevie tells her how he heard some men talking about her and Nick Fury by the riverfront and offers to take her to their hideout for thirty dollars and some fried chicken….

Danny’s info is that Tony Stark and Reed Richards have been recruiting villains to help enforce the Super-Human Registration Act; the Green Goblin was supposed to be one of them but a traitor in the pro-reg organization set him free. Osborn’s nanites which went on the blink were made by Tony Stark. Danny’s idea is that Stark is trying to incite war with Atlantis so he can make a profit selling weapons….

A suspicious Sally follows Stevie to the waterfront where he directs her to a small shed. Once inside, "Stevie" reveals himself to be Captain America….

The ambulance carrying Robbie Baldwin to the hospital experienced severe electric malfunctions and crashed, killing two, and even injuring She-Hulk but leaving Robbie unharmed. SHIELD Director Maria Hill wants to know why and is questioning She-Hulk closely. Jen has no idea but knows her power was drained and she was left blinded. Hill threatens her and leaves. An aide reports that there will be an investigation on whether SHIELD deliberately left a breach for the shooter, James Stricker, father of a child killed in Stamford, to get at Baldwin, along with word that Robbie’s cellmate Hickey has vanished (no he didn’t, he’s right there behind them). Hill stops by Reed Richards’ lab where the unconscious Robbie is undergoing tests. Reed speculates that the accident revealed dormant kinetic powers within Robbie. Hill intends to present this in a way for the President to spin into political capital….
