Synopsis

Deadpool (2013 series) #19 synopsis by reviewer Peter Silvestro
Rating: 3 stars

In North Korea, Deadpool, Wolverine, and Captain America are standing outside Dr Butler’s laboratory complex. Cap holds off the army (who, not surprisingly, are in no hurry to fight Captain America, while Wolverine wires the place with bombs. Deadpool confronts Butler inside his safe room, where he is locked away with his gravely ill sister, whom he has been trying to cure. ‘Pool questions his lifelong tormentor and learns that Butler has been overseeing his progress since his Weapon X days. The villain also confirms that ‘Pool has a daughter but he has no idea where she is. Deadpool rehearses all of Butler’s atrocities—for the benefit of the sister, who opens the door to the safe room. Deadpool enters and breaks Butler’s neck. The sister chooses to remain and die. Agent Preston asks ‘Pool to gather evidence for investigating all of Butler’s crimes. The three heroes link up and walk calmly through the ranks of the nervous North Korean army as the building explodes….

In Tokyo, the three comrades part ways, and Wade sets off to find a new body for Preston while he determines to get on with his life….

Deadpool (2013 series) #19 Review by (November 22, 2013)
Review: Thus ends a bizarre Deadpool story arc. Grim and gritty exploration of the protagonist’s inner life, it showed us a moody introspective Wade Wilson rather than going for the usual over-the top comic violence. I’m not really a D-Pool fan so I can’t judge how this goes over with the real aficionados so I’ll leave that for the Manager of the Deadpool Library. PS I get the idea that we’re supposed to recognize the mysterious SHIELD Agent on the last page, but I don’t. She’s a black woman—Agent Preston (or someone using her body)?
