Hulk #13 Review by (March 15, 2023)

Review: Ye cats, this is a violent one! Titan within Bruce’s psyche breaks out and destroys Hulk Planet in a series of huge panels serving as nightmare fuel for Hulk fans. Oddly, Hulk is seen only in the flashbacks; his current whereabouts are not revealed. The whole issue is a terrifying adrenaline rush and there’s one more part to go for this story arc. I shudder to think….

Synopsis / Summary / Plot

Hulk #13 Synopsis by Peter Silvestro

Flashbacks: We see Doctor Strange using his magic to create Bruce Banner’s Mind Palace where Hulk is confined to his own part of Bruce’s brain and he is in control for the first time. [We learn later that this isn’t really Dr. Strange.]

After the El Paso incident wherein Bruce, possessed by Titan, slaughtered a bar full of people, he told Strange that he is leaving….

Bruce converted Hulk’s body into a starship, using technology stolen from MODOK, in order to travel into space and never return…

Now, Doctor Strange and Doc Samson (in Sasquatch’s body) must rescue Bruce. Strange enters the portal in his astral form and discovers Planet Hulk is a war zone, as Titan battles the inhabitants, all grievously wounded, even using the ruined pieces of the Hulk statue as a weapon. Brutal attacks Titan and is killed. Strange recognizes the magic involved. As Monolith orders her people to destroy Titan, Strange fights Titan inside the Mind Palace but is defeated and ejected from Bruce’s mind and back through the portal. On the planet, Titan destroys all his enemies with no chance of them healing and returning. Monolith assaults Titan directly as Strange, entering Bruce’s mind once again, reveals that the real villain is D’Spayre, who impersonated Strange to create the Mind Palace—but his reasons for doing this are still unknown. As Titan defeats Monolith on the planet, he also captures and attacks Strange in the mind. Strange’s physical form is being drawn into the portal and Samson tries to hold him back as the Sorcerer screams that D’Spayre is now in full control—then there is another massive explosion on Hulk Planet….
