Bruce Banner finds himself not in the United States and gets a cleaning job aboard a ship to pay for the ticket back home. At sea, Captain Barracuda and his men attack the boat. They are looking for a device. Tension turns Bruce into Hulk, who fights the villains. The main pole falls, pushing Hulk into the sea.

Hulk swims to an island where he finds a friendly man who believes is Robinson Crusoe himself. Crusoe shows Hulk a gamma ray device.

Suddenly, Ape Men attack both. As Hulk gets rid of them, Captain Barracuda arrives.

Review / Commentaries

Incredible Hulk, The (1968 series) #219 Review by (September 14, 2024)
A very good issue with stupendous script and artwork, the first part of a two-issue story, yet it became a sort of infamous comic because the artist, Sal Buscema, not hurting his fame as the ultimate Hulk artist in the opinion of many, accidentally drew Captain Barracuda, the main villain, looking through his submarine periscope using his COVERED patched eye... and he does not have X-ray vision. The blame on this funny fact cannot fall solely on Sal, because nobody on his team caught the problem on time: inker Ernie Chan, letterer Rick Parker, or editor and scribe Len Wein. Oh well, one for the comics history books.
