Incredible Hulk, The (1968 series) #330

Bruce Banner, Rick Jones, and Betty Ross return to Gamma Base, and General Ross’s body recovers—though he still retains Zzzax’s electrical powers.

The unseen person from the previous issue is revealed to be a disembodied brain capable of taking over host bodies and draining their energy. It seizes control of Doc Samson and uses his body to try to capture the Hulk.

When the creature attempts to jump onto Betty, Bruce intervenes and is possessed instead. General Ross, impressed by Bruce’s bravery, steps in when the creature tries again to enslave Betty in order to reach the Rick Hulk.

Ross allows the creature to latch onto him and resists its mind control just long enough to destroy it with a blast of his Zzzax electrical powers. The effort kills him, but not before he admits to misjudging Bruce for all these years.
